Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions are held frequently yearlong in Mumbai. Many hosted by GPA GB Organization. In this top specialist and super-specialist doctors educate junior doctors at venue slected by GPA. This month it will at BSES MG Hospital (Brahmakumari Hospital) Andheri center on 19th Feb 2025. This educational event will feature three insightful presentations by esteemed medical professionals. Register yourself before seats get filled out.

Dr Sandip Prabhakar Bhurke,  Consultant Nephrologist and Kidney Transplant Physician.

Dr. Sandip Bhurke is a renowned Nephrologist in Mumbai with 26 years of expertise in kidney care and treatment. A distinguished academic with a background in teaching, he served as an Associate Professor of Nephrology at Nair Hospital, mentoring future specialists in DM and DNB Nephrology as well as MD Medicine. Dr. Bhurke is also a passionate advocate for organ donation, certified by the Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee (ZTCC) as a volunteer speaker, promoting awareness about brain stem death and the importance of organ transplants. His dedication to education and public awareness has made him a respected leader in the field of nephrology.

What is CME?

Continuing Medical Education lectures. These are taken by Doctors, for Doctors. They are Compulsory in India, USA, and almost all Countries. Doctors attend Educational Conferences and Individual Lectures of their own Speciality. This helps them keep abreast of the latest knowledge advancements in their field. Many may have hands-on experience work-shops also.

Is it difficult to renew Medical Liscence in Mumbai?

No, usually Medical Conferences and Medical Lectures are conducted in adequate frequency. Renewal of Medical Liscence is usually a simple process.

Usually Local Area Coordinator disseminates schedule of CME Point Medical Educational Lectures, via SMS or WhatsApp. Also, GPA GB Mirror Bulletin, print edition comes by Post to all Members Address.

How many CME points are required for Doctors in India?

Valid 6 CME points per year. Total 30 CME points every 5 years, when Renewal of Doctor Medical Liscence takes place. For Mumbai it is online on website of Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC).

Which Doctor can attend GPA Lectures for CME points?

Any Medical Doctor can attend as Delegate, by prior Registration. But, only MBBS Allopathic Doctors are Eligible for getting CME Points. The Attendance is submitted by Organizers to MMC via GPA GB. Points later appear online on the MMC website.

What is the usual schedule of CME Point Lecture?

Three MMC Accredited Speakers take tLks of one hour each. The Attending Delegates get One Point for Attending these 3 hour Conference.
Full day Conferences get 2 points. Two days Conferences get 4 points.
Maximum points allowed is 4 points for any Medical Conference

Is Alcohol allowed in Medical Conferences?

No. Ethically Alcohol and Smoking is not allowed in Medical Conferences.

Is Food and Refreshments allowed during Medical Conferences?

Yes. As per Duration, Tea, Food Lodging may be arranged, by prior Notice, by the organization.

How do I know whether my own Doctor has renewed his / her Medical Liscence?

A practicing Doctor is usually having completed renewal of Medical Liscence. A Patient or Relative have the right to ask about Liscence, if they feel so.

How often are MMC-approved CME lectures held by GPA GB Mumbai?

GPA Mumbai holds CME lectures throughout the year. The frequency can vary depending on the association’s calendar and partnerships with medical institutions.

What topics are covered in GPA Mumbai CME lectures?

The topics vary widely, from General Medicine to specialized fields like Cardiology, Nephrology, and Emergency medicine. They are designed to update Doctors on new treatments, technologies, and newer medical guidelines.
